Thomas Daniel Knox, 6th Earl of Ranfurly was born on 29 May 1913.1 He was the son of Thomas Uchter Caulfield Knox, Viscount Northland and Hilda Susan Ellen Cooper.3 He married Hermione Llewellyn, daughter of Griffith Robert Poyntz Llewellyn and Emily Constance Elwes, on 17 January 1939.1 He died on 6 November 1988 at age 75 at Westminster, London, England.1,4
Thomas Daniel Knox, 6th Earl of Ranfurly usually went by his middle name of Dan.1 He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, EnglandG.1 He graduated from Trinity College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, EnglandG, with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)1 He succeeded as the 6th Baron Ranfurly of Ramphorlie, co. Renfrew [U.K., 1826] on 1 October 1933.1 He succeeded as the 6th Earl of Ranfurly [I., 1831] on 1 October 1933.1 He succeeded as the 7th Baron Welles of Dungannon, co. Tyrone [I., 1781] on 1 October 1933.1 He succeeded as the 7th Viscount Northland of Dungannon, co. Tyrone [I., 1791] on 1 October 1933.1 He was Aide-de-Camp to the Governor-General of Australia between 1936 and 1938.1 He fought in the Second World War.1 He gained the rank of 2nd Lieutenant in the Nottinghamshire Sherwood Rangers Yeomanry.1 He held the office of Governor and Commander-in-Chief of the Bahamas between 1953 and 1956.1 He was appointed Knight Commander, Order of St. Michael and St. George (K.C.M.G.) in 1955.1 He was chairman of Colonial Mutual Life Assurance Society.1 He was chairman of Inchcape Insurance Holdings.1
He was appointed Knight, Most Venerable Order of the Hospital of St. John of Jerusalem (K.St.J.)1
