William Grey, 13th Baron Grey (of Wilton) was born circa 1509.1 He was the son of Edmund Grey, 9th Baron Grey (of Wilton) and Florence Hastinges.3,1 He married Lady Mary Somerset, daughter of Charles Somerset, 1st Earl of Worcester and Elizabeth West.1 He died between 14 December 1562 and 15 December 1562.1
He campaigned for much of his life in northern France.1 He succeeded as the 13th Baron Grey, of Wilton [E., 1295] circa October 1523.1 He was Chief Captain and Seneschal, Chief Leader and Governor of all armies in Boulogne and Boullonnais in 1546.1 He fought in the Battle of Pinkie in 1547, as Captain-General of Horse.1 He was appointed Knight, Order of the Garter (K.G.) in 1557.1 In January 1557/58 he was captured by the French at their taking of Guines, having surrendered the castle.1 He held the office of Warden of the East and Middle Marches in 1560.1 He held the office of Governor of Berwick-on-Tweed in 1560.1
