     Reginald Douglas Crook, 1st Baron Crook was born on 2 March 1901.1 He was the son of Percy Edwin Crook and Charlotte Edith Rainey.2 He married Ida Gertrude Haddon, daughter of Joseph George Haddon, on 2 October 1922.1 He died in 1989.1
     He was educated at Strand School, EnglandG.1 He was Organising Secretary of the Poor Law Officers’ Union between 1919 and 1925.1 He was General Secretary of the Ministry of Labour Staff Association between 1925 and 1951.1 He was member of the Civil Service National Whitley Council between 1925 and 1951.1 He was editor of Civil Service Argus between 1928 and 1951.1 He was Honorary Secretary of the Labour Party Association between 1945 and 1949.1 He was created 1st Baron Crook, of Carshalton, co. Surrey [U.K.] on 3 July 1947.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Surrey in 1948.1 He was Member of the United Nations Administration Tribinal between 1951 and 1971.1 He was appointed Knight, Most Venerable Order of the Hospital of St. John of Jerusalem (K.St.J.) in 1955.1
