He fought in the First World War.1 He gained the rank of Captain in the Queen’s Regiment.1 He fought in the Second World War, in Egypt.1 He retired from the military, with the rank of Colonel.1 He was appointed Officer, Order of the British Empire (O.B.E.)1 He was he worked on the Enigma code as a crypto-analyst at Bletchley Park.1
