     Sir Hugh John Dyke Acland was born on 17 January 1904 at Christchurch, New Zealand^G.^1,2 He was the son of Sir Hugh Thomas Dyke Acland and Evelyn Mary Ovans.¹ He married Katherine Wilde Ormond, daughter of John Davies Ormond, on 12 June 1935.¹ He died on 26 January 1981 at age 77 at Mount Peel, Canterbury, New Zealand^G.^1,2
     Sir Hugh John Dyke Acland also went by the nick-name of Jack.² He was educated at Christ’s College, Christchurch, New Zealand^G.² He was a sheep farmer.¹ He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) [New Zealand] between 1942 and 1946, for Temuka.¹ He was Deputy-Chairman of the New Zealand Wool Board between 1957 and 1960.² He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.)¹ He was Chairman of the New Zealand Wool Board between 1960 and 1972.² He was appointed Knight Commander, Order of the British Empire (K.B.E.) in 1968.¹ He has an extensive biographical entry in the Dictionary of New Zealand Biography.²
     

     Katherine Wilde Ormond was the daughter of John Davies Ormond.¹ She married Sir Hugh John Dyke Acland, son of Sir Hugh Thomas Dyke Acland and Evelyn Mary Ovans, on 12 June 1935.¹ She died on 11 July 2010.²
     Her married name became Acland.

     John Davies Ormond lived at Hawkes Bay, New Zealand^G.¹

     John Barton Ormond Acland was born on 13 March 1936.¹ He is the son of Sir Hugh John Dyke Acland and Katherine Wilde Ormond.¹ He married Dorothy Rosemary Hobson, daughter of Allan Albert Hobson, on 9 December 1961.¹
     He held the office of Chairman of the New Zealand Meat Producers’ Board.² He lived in 1999 at Mount Peel, Canterbury, New Zealand^G.¹

     Mark Arundell Acland was born on 14 February 1939.¹ He was the son of Sir Hugh John Dyke Acland and Katherine Wilde Ormond.¹ He married Joanna Quaife.¹ He died on 7 September 2014 at age 75.²
