     Margaret Joy Whitehead is the daughter of Gilbert Hinds Whitehead and Helena Emmeline Langford.² She married, firstly, Lt.-Cdr. John Brett, son of Michael Brett, on 5 May 1928.¹ She married, secondly, Lt.-Col. Robert Clement Giles, son of Reverend Clemenet Douglas Giles, on 24 July 1965.¹
     From 5 May 1928, her married name became Brett. From 24 July 1965, her married name became Giles.¹

     Michael Brett lived at Bishop’s Stortford, Hertfordshire, England^G, Bishop’s Stortford issue.¹

     Lt.-Cdr. John Brett was born on 27 March 1905.² He was the son of Michael Brett.³ He married Margaret Joy Whitehead, daughter of Gilbert Hinds Whitehead and Helena Emmeline Langford, on 5 May 1928.¹ He died on 22 May 1941 at age 36, killed in action, in H.M.S. Gloucester off Crete.¹
     He was commissioned on 15 September 1918, in the service of the Royal Navy.² He gained the rank of Midshipman on 15 January 1923.² He gained the rank of Sub-Lieutenant on 15 November 1925.² He gained the rank of Lieutenant on 15 November 1927.² He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 15 November 1935.¹ He was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross (D.S.C.)¹ He fought in the Second World War.¹

     Lt.-Col. Wilfred James Whitehead was born on 6 January 1873.¹ He was the son of Sir James Whitehead, 1st Bt. and Mercy Matilda Hinds.² He married Dona Margaret Chase, daughter of T. A. N. Chase, on 16 April 1907.¹ He died on 22 December 1934 at age 61.¹
     He was educated at Rugby School, Rugby, Warwickshire, England^G.¹ He graduated from Trinity College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England^G, with a Master of Arts (M.A.)¹ He fought in the First World War, where he was mentioned in despatches and was wounded.¹ He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the 6th City of London Regiment.¹ He was awarded the Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.) in 1917.¹

     T. A. N. Chase was in the Indian Civil Service.¹

     Dona Margaret Chase was the daughter of T. A. N. Chase.² She married Lt.-Col. Wilfred James Whitehead, son of Sir James Whitehead, 1st Bt. and Mercy Matilda Hinds, on 16 April 1907.¹ She died on 4 July 1944.¹
     From 16 April 1907, her married name became Whitehead.

     Major John Chase Whitehead was born on 23 May 1913.¹ He was the son of Lt.-Col. Wilfred James Whitehead and Dona Margaret Chase.² He married Lorna Davey Belk, daughter of Walter Rupert Belk, on 15 November 1941.¹ He died on 22 June 1956 at age 43.¹
     He was educated at Rugby School, Rugby, Warwickshire, England^G.¹ He was educated at Royal Military College, Sandhurst, Berkshire, England^G.¹ He was admitted to Inner Temple in 1938 entitled to practise as a barrister.¹ He fought in the Second World War.¹ He gained the rank of Major in the Royal West Kent Regiment.¹ He was appointed Member, Order of the British Empire (M.B.E.) in 1945.¹

     Walter Rupert Belk lived at Newbury, Berkshire, England^G.¹

     Lorna Davey Belk is the daughter of Walter Rupert Belk.² She married Major John Chase Whitehead, son of Lt.-Col. Wilfred James Whitehead and Dona Margaret Chase, on 15 November 1941.¹
     From 15 November 1941, her married name became Whitehead.

     Carolyn Whitehead was born on 30 September 1946.¹ She is the daughter of Major John Chase Whitehead and Lorna Davey Belk.² She married Patrick Geoghegan Smyth in 1967.¹
     From 1967, her married name became Smyth.
