He was he founded Hoare’s Bank at the sign of the Golden Bottle, Cheapside (now C. Hoare & Co), handling among other people’s Oliver Cromwell’s finances in 1672.3 He was appointed Knight in 1702.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for the City of London between 1710 and 1723.1 He held the office of Lord Mayor of London in 1712.1
