     He was educated at Edinburgh High School, Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland^G.¹ He was educated at University of Edinburgh, Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland^G.¹ He owned the periodical The Record.¹ He was a practising barrister.¹ He was a philanthropist.¹ He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Essex.¹ He lived at The Manor House, Hampshire, England^G.¹ At Westbourne Terrace^G (an unknown value.)¹ He was recognised by Lord Lyon King of Arms as and established the right of representation of Haldane of Gleneagles including supporters, and matriculated his arms at the Lyons Court and established the right of representation of Haldane of Gleneagles including supporters on 14 May 1878.¹

     Emma Corsbie Hardcastle was the daughter of Joseph Hardcastle.¹ She married Alexander Haldane, son of James Alexander Haldane and Mary Joass, on 29 August 1822.¹ She died on 7 April 1867.¹
     From 29 August 1822, her married name became Haldane.¹

     Barbara Spread was born on 24 August 1748.¹ She was the daughter of William Spread and Barbara Wilson.¹ She married Robert Baldwin in 1769.¹ She died on 21 June 1791 at age 42.¹

     Robert Baldwin was born on 21 August 1741.¹ He married Barbara Spread, daughter of William Spread and Barbara Wilson, in 1769.¹ He died on 24 August 1816 at age 75.¹

     James Brodrick Chinnery-Haldane, 24th of Gleneagles was born on 24 July 1868.² He was the son of Rt. Rev. James Robert Alexander Chinnery-Haldane and Anne Elizabeth Frances Margaretta Chinnery.² He married Katherine Annie Napier, daughter of William Henry Edward Napier and Annie Walker Robertson, on 23 April 1902.² He died on 2 May 1941 at age 72.²

     Patrick Vernon Chinnery-Haldane was born on 15 February 1870.¹ He was the son of Rt. Rev. James Robert Alexander Chinnery-Haldane and Anne Elizabeth Frances Margaretta Chinnery.² He married Rebecca Clara Anna Helen Monteith, daughter of Lowry John Monteith, on 16 January 1895.¹ He died on 27 May 1947 at age 77.¹
     He was educated at Loretto School, Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland^G.¹ He was educated at Pembroke College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England^G.¹ He lived at Dal Bhan, Onich, Inverness-shire, Scotland^G.¹

     Lowry John Monteith gained the rank of Surgeon in the Royal Navy.¹

     Rebecca Clara Anna Helen Monteith was the daughter of Lowry John Monteith.² She married Patrick Vernon Chinnery-Haldane, son of Rt. Rev. James Robert Alexander Chinnery-Haldane and Anne Elizabeth Frances Margaretta Chinnery, on 16 January 1895.¹ She died on 30 March 1925.¹
     From 16 January 1895, her married name became Chinnery-Haldane.¹
