Arpád Albert Rudolf Graf und Freiherr von Bothmer zu Schwegerhoff was born on 17 September 1858 at Szolos-Veg-Ardo, Hungary.1 He was the son of Carl Alexander Friedrich Graf und Freiherr von Bothmer zu Schwegerhoff and Rosa von Szabó de Sepsi-Szant-György.1 He married Helene Marie Isidora von Pilaszanovits, daughter of Joseph von Pilaszanovits and Jolantha von Bogor, on 15 March 1890 at Budapest, HungaryG.1 He died on 3 July 1938 at age 79 at Duna-Almas.1
He gained the rank of Lieutenant in 1879 in the k. u. k. Infantry Regiment No. 67.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant in 1889 in the Royal Honvéd Infanterie.1 He was Colonel and commander of the Hungarian Royal Gyulaer 2nd Honvéd Infantry Regiment between 1908 and 1911.1 He was awarded the Order of the Iron Crown in 1910 3rd Class.1 He was commander of the Royal Hungarian 75th Honvéd Infantry Brigade in November 1911.1
