Miles de Cogan1 
He was also known as Milo.1 In 1177 he took a leading part in the 12th–century Anglo/Cambro-Norman incursion into Ireland and was granted by King Henry II a territory called the ‘Kingdom of Cork’, jointly with Robert fitz Stephen.1

He was feudal Lord Kinsale and Ringrone.1 He was overlord of half the Kingdom of Cork.1 On 29 September 1261 in defending the Castle of Kinsale and Ringrone he killed Fineen MacCarthy, King of Desmond.1
