     Richard Hampton was born in 1898 at Southbridge, Canterbury, New ZealandG.1,2,3 He was the son of Joseph Henry Hampton and Mary Troughton.2 He married Frances Susan Hampton, daughter of John Moffat Hampton and Ellen Jane Bennett.1 He died on 8 May 1933 electrocuted, by touching a fence which had come into contact with a live overhead wire..4,5 He was buried at Ellesmere Public Cemetery, Ellesmere, Canterbury, New ZealandG, plot 739.5
     Richard Hampton also went by the nick-name of Dick.5 Richard, William, Margaret, Joseph, Mary, Robert, Isabella, Francis and Sarah immigrated with his parents to Lyttelton, Canterbury, New ZealandG, on the ship Corinthic, arriving 26 December 1909.6 He was a farmer before 1933 at Gambles Estate, Little Rakaia, Canterbury, New ZealandG.4
