John immigrated to Auckland, New ZealandG, on the ship Northern Bride, arriving on 1860.3 He was a labourer for a Mr John Wallace between 1860 and 1863 at Papatoetoe, Auckland, New ZealandG.3 He was a farmer between 1863 and 1864 at Bogside Farm, Doyleston, Canterbury, New ZealandG.3 He held the office of Member of the Lyttelton Harbour Board.8 He was a farmer between 1874 and 1915 at Kyle Farm, Kyle, Canterbury, New ZealandG.7 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) [New Zealand]9 He was Councilor and Chairman of the Ashburton County Council between 1882 and 1913 at Ashburton, New ZealandG.8
