     He was educated at Victoria College, Jersey, Channel Islands^G.¹ He was educated at Trinity College, Dublin University, Dublin, County Dublin, Ireland^G.¹ He was the Private Secretary to Sir Robert Hart, with the Chinese Imperial Maritime Customs between 1883 and 1896.¹ He was the Secretary Municipal for Foreign Settlements between 1896 and 1910 at Shanghai, China^G.¹ He was the Times correspondent from Shanghai, China^G, between 1897 and 1907.¹ He was appointed Order of the Double Dragon, Pao Hsing of China.¹ He was appointed Order of the Rising Sun of Japan.¹ He was the Times correspondent from Peking, China^G, between 1907 and 1910.¹ He was the author of twelve books, including eight about the East.¹ He lived at Brudenell House, Aldeburgh, Suffolk, England^G.¹

     Louisa Nickels Dearborn was the daughter of William Dearborn.¹ She married John Otway Percy Bland, son of Maj.-Gen. Edward Loftus Bland and Emma Frances Franks, on 29 November 1889 in a childless marriage.¹ She died on 13 May 1953.¹
     From 29 November 1889, her married name became Bland.¹

     William Dearborn lived at San Francisco, California, U.S.A.^G.¹

     Brig.-Gen. Edward Humphrey Bland was born on 3 May 1866.¹ He was the son of Maj.-Gen. Edward Loftus Bland and Emma Frances Franks.¹ He married Bertha Mary Moore, daughter of Joseph Fletcher Moore, on 7 April 1894.¹ He died on 15 February 1945 at age 78.¹
     He fought in the Miranzai Expedition in 1891.¹ He fought in the Isazai Expedition in 1892.¹ He fought in the First World War.¹ He was appointed Companion, Order of the Bath (C.B.) in 1916.¹ He was awarded the Order of White Eagle of Serbia in 1916.¹ He was appointed Companion, Order of St. Michael and St. George (C.M.G.) in 1919.¹ He retired from the military in 1923, with the rank of Brigadier-General, late of the Royal Engineers.¹

     Bertha Mary Moore was the daughter of Joseph Fletcher Moore.¹ She married Brig.-Gen. Edward Humphrey Bland, son of Maj.-Gen. Edward Loftus Bland and Emma Frances Franks, on 7 April 1894.¹ She died on 17 February 1950.¹
     From 7 April 1894, her married name became Bland.¹

     Joseph Fletcher Moore held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.)¹ He lived at Manor Kilbride, County Wicklow, Ireland^G.² He was a practising Barrister-at-law.¹ He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.)¹

     Captain Humphrey Otway Carleton Bland was born on 8 July 1901.¹ He was the son of Brig.-Gen. Edward Humphrey Bland and Bertha Mary Moore.¹ He died on 22 April 1933 at age 31 at Northwest Frontier, India^G, killed in action, unmarried.¹
     He was a Captain in the Government of India Police Department.¹

     Angela Doreen Loftus Bland was born on 6 April 1898.¹ She was the daughter of Brig.-Gen. Edward Humphrey Bland and Bertha Mary Moore.¹ She married William le Belward Egerton, son of William Egerton and Louise Mary le Mesurier, on 12 September 1931.² She died on 15 October 1973 at age 75.¹
     From 12 September 1931, her married name became Egerton.¹

     William le Belward Egerton was born on 1 December 1901.² He was the son of William Egerton and Louise Mary le Mesurier.^1,3 He married Angela Doreen Loftus Bland, daughter of Brig.-Gen. Edward Humphrey Bland and Bertha Mary Moore, on 12 September 1931.² He died on 23 March 1947 at age 45.¹
     He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, England^G.² He graduated from Trinity College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England^G, with a Master of Arts (M.A.)² He was with the Indian Civil Service.¹ He was with the Political Department of the Government of India.²

     William Egerton was born on 6 June 1870.² He was the son of Philip Henry Egerton and Mary Marjoribanks.³ He married Louise Mary le Mesurier, daughter of Edward Algernon le Mesurier, on 19 October 1895.² He died on 27 June 1917 at age 47.²
     He was Finance Under-Secretary for the Government of Bengal in 1895.² He was with the Indian Civil Service.¹ He was awarded the Kaisar-i-Hind Gold Medal in 1908 1st class.²
