Colonel Herbert Norwood Blakeney1 
He was commissioned in 1890, in the service of the Army.1 He fought in the Boer War, for which he was mentioned in despatches.1 He was appointed Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.) in 1900.1 He fought in the First World War, during which he was wounded. He was mentioned in despatches.1 He was appointed Companion, Order of St. Michael and St. George (C.M.G.) in 1918.1 He retired from the military in 1920, with the rank of Colonel.1
