     He was commissioned in 1897, in the service of the 2nd Batallion, Leicester Regiment.¹ He fought in the Boer War, with the Mounted Infantry.¹ He fought in the Fourth Ashanti War, serving with the Egyptian Army in Sudan.¹ He was employed for six years in the Sinai Peninsula, first as an Inspector, then as the Governor.¹ He fought in the First World War, as a Major with Remount Services, Ireland.¹

     Emily Mary Sophia Reade was the daughter of Robert Henry Sturrock Reade.¹ She married Major Harold Delacour Beamish, son of North Ludlow Axel Beamish and Edith Anne Thompson, in 1917 in a childless marriage.¹ She died on 14 October 1942, as the result of an accident.¹
     From 1917, her married name became Beamish.¹

     Edith Anne Elizabeth Beamish was born in 1871.¹ She was the daughter of North Ludlow Axel Beamish and Edith Anne Thompson.¹ She was buried on 28 October 1873.¹
