     He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, England^G.¹ He graduated from Bristol University, Bristol, England^G, with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)¹ He was a practising solicitor in 1995.¹ He lived in 2003 at Elms Hall, Colne Engaine, Colchester, Essex, England^G.¹

     Charlotte Elizabeth Kerr-Smiley was born on 17 January 1963.¹ She is the daughter of Hector Robert Kerr-Smiley and Eleanor Jill Wadlow.² She married Christopher Hugh Courtney Smith, son of Sir Robert Courtney Smith and Moira Rose Macdougall, in 1990.¹
     From 1990, her married name became Smith.

     Sir Robert Courtney Smith was born on 10 September 1927.² He married Moira Rose Macdougall, daughter of Wilfred Hugh Macdougall, on 6 March 1954.²
     He was appointed Commander, Order of the British Empire (C.B.E.) in 1980.¹

     Nicholas Ernest Kerr-Smiley was born on 3 December 1940.¹ He is the son of Lt.-Col. Cyril Hugh Kerr-Smiley and Agnes Sorel-Cameron.² He married Georgina Jane Dick Lauder, daughter of Sir George Andrew Dick-Lauder of Fountainhall, 12th Bt. and Hester Marguerite Sorel-Cameron, in 1973.¹
     He was educated at Ampleforth College, Ampleforth, Yorkshire, England^G.¹ He was educated at Kalgoorlie School of Mines, Kalgoorlie, Western Australia, Australia^G.¹ He was registered as a Member, Australasian Institution of Mining and Metallurgy (M.Aus.I.M.M.)¹

     Sir George Andrew Dick-Lauder of Fountainhall, 12th Bt. was born on 17 November 1917.² He was the son of Lt.-Col. Sir John North Dalrymple Dick-Lauder of Fountainhall, 11th Bt. and Phyllis Mary Iggulden.² He married Hester Marguerite Sorel-Cameron, daughter of Lt.-Col. George Cecil Minett Sorel-Cameron and Marguerite Emily Tollemache, on 13 November 1945.² He died on 11 August 1981 at age 63 at Firth Mill House, Roslin, Midlothian, Scotland.^2,3
     He was educated at Stowe School, Buckingham, Buckinghamshire, England^G.² He was educated at Royal Military College, Sandhurst, Berkshire, England^G.² He fought in the Second World War, in Palestine, Somaliland, 52nd Middle East Commandos, Sudan, and Crete, where he became a POW.² He gained the rank of Major in the Black Watch (Royal Horse Regiment.)² He was 2nd in charge of the 2nd Battalion, Black Watch between 1955 and 1956.² He was 2nd in charge of the 11th Battalion, King’s African Regiment in 1957.² He succeeded as the 12th Baronet Lauder, of Fountainhall, co. Haddington [N.S., 1690] on 19 September 1958.² He wrote the book Let Soldiers Lust, Our Man for Ganymede, published 1969.³ He wrote the book A Skull and Two Crystals, published 1972.³

     Georgina Jane Dick Lauder was born on 5 January 1949.² She is the daughter of Sir George Andrew Dick-Lauder of Fountainhall, 12th Bt. and Hester Marguerite Sorel-Cameron.² She married Nicholas Ernest Kerr-Smiley, son of Lt.-Col. Cyril Hugh Kerr-Smiley and Agnes Sorel-Cameron, in 1973.¹
     From 1973, her married name became Kerr-Smiley.

     Samantha Fiona Marguerite Kerr-Smiley was born in 1976.¹ She is the daughter of Nicholas Ernest Kerr-Smiley and Georgina Jane Dick Lauder.²
