     Maxwell Ancketill was born on 24 October 1826.1 He was the son of William Anketell and Sarah Maxwell.1 He married, firstly, Julia Elizabeth Whitaker, daughter of Gustavus Whitaker, on 29 September 1857.1 He married, secondly, Mary Louisa Ranking, daughter of Henry Ranking, in 1879.1 He died on 22 February 1888 at age 61.1
     He was given the name of Maxwell Anketell at birth.1 In 1874 his name was legally changed to Maxwell Ancketill, the family reverted to the original spelling of their patronymic by Deed Poll.1 He lived at Leatherhead, Surrey, EnglandG.1
