     Sir Sydenham Poyntz was baptised on 3 November 1607.¹ He was the son of John Poyntz and Anne Sydenham.² He married Ann Eleanora de Casey, daughter of Count Stephanus de Casey.¹ He died at Virginia, U.S.A.^G.¹
     He gained the rank of Colonel and Major-General in the Parliamentary Army.¹ He held the office of Governor of Antigua in 1661.¹
