Hon. Gilbert James Duke Coleridge was born on 15 February 1859.1 He was the son of John Duke Coleridge, 1st Baron Coleridge of Ottery St. Mary and Jane Fortescue Seymour.3 He married, firstly, Annie Marion Darroch, daughter of Duncan Darroch, 5th of Gourock and of Torridon and Ann Rickman, on 24 October 1888.1 He married, secondly, Marguerite Winifred Pierpoint Mitchell, daughter of Pierpoint Mitchell, on 30 April 1921.1 He died on 6 November 1953 at age 94.1
He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, EnglandG.1 He graduated from Trinity College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, EnglandG, with a Master of Arts (M.A.)1 He was admitted to Middle Temple in 1886 entitled to practise as a barrister.1 He wrote the book An Instinctive Criminal.1 He wrote the book Eton in the ‘Seventies.1 He was a poet and sculptor, and exhibited at the Royal Academy.1 He was Assistant Master in Crown Office, Dept of the Supreme Court between 1892 and 1921.1 He was Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Surrey.1

He was educated at Harrow School, Harrow, London, EnglandG.2 He graduated from Trinity College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, EnglandG, with a Master of Arts (M.A.)2 He was a practising barrister.2 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.)2 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Renfrewshire.2 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Ross-shire.2 He had two younger daughters, who died unmarried.2
