     He was educated at Rugby School, Rugby, Warwickshire, England^G.¹ He fought in the Second World War.¹ He graduated from New College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England^G, in 1937 with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)¹ He was educated at New College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England^G, Master of Arts (M.A.)¹ He was admitted to Middle Temple in 1939 entitled to practise as a barrister.¹ He gained the rank of Captain in the Irish Guards.¹

     Penelope Burke was the daughter of John Hardiman Burke and Elizabeth Armstrong.^1,2 A settlement for the marriage between her and Major John Kirwan was made on 17 April 1806.³ She died on 19 November 1843.³
     From 17 April 1806, her married name became Kirwan.

     Lady Marguerite Georgina Hay was born on 19 March 1916.² She was the daughter of William George Montagu Hay, 11th Marquess of Tweeddale and Marguerite Christine Ralli.² She married Arthur Nicholas Coleridge, son of John Duke Coleridge and Hon. Katharine Euphemia Godley, on 20 September 1941.¹ She died on 25 March 2003 at age 87.²
     Lady Marguerite Georgina Hay usually went by her middle name of Georgina.¹ She wrote the book Grand Smashional Pointers, published 1934.² From 20 September 1941, her married name became Coleridge. She was editor of Homes and Gardens between 1949 and 1963.² She wrote the book I Know What I Like, published 1959.² She was a director of Country Life Ltd between 1962 and 1974.² She wrote the book That’s Racing, published 1978.²

     Frances Marguerite Katharine Coleridge was born on 11 May 1943.¹ She is the daughter of Arthur Nicholas Coleridge and Lady Marguerite Georgina Hay.² She married Neil Lindsay Vaughan Smith, son of Donald Neil Vaughan Smith, on 7 April 1964.¹
     From 7 April 1964, her married name became Smith. She lived in 2003 at Park Hill, Appledore, Kent, England^G.¹
