     Robert Tracy, 2nd Viscount Tracy of Rathcoole was born in 1593 at Tuddington, Gloucestershire, EnglandG.2 He was the son of John Tracy, 1st Viscount Tracy of Rathcoole and Anne Shirley.3 He married, secondly, Dorothy Cocks, daughter of Thomas Cocks.3 He married, firstly, Bridget Lyttelton, daughter of John Lyttelton and Meriel Bromley, before 1617.1 He died circa 8 May 1662.2,3 He was buried on 11 May 1662.3
     He was educated at Lincoln College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England.3 He was admitted to Middle Temple.3 He was appointed Knight in 1616.3 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Gloucestershire between 1620 and 1622.3 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Gloucestershire in 1626.3 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Gloucestershire between March 1640 and May 1640.3 He was a royalist in the Civil War.3 He succeeded as the 2nd Viscount Tracy of Rathcoole, co. Dublin [I., 1643] on 14 February 1647/48.3 He succeeded as the 2nd Baron Tracy of Rathcoole, co. Dublin [I., 1643] on 14 February 1647/48.3
