He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, EnglandG.1 He graduated from Magdalen College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, EnglandG, with a Master of Arts (M.A.)1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant in the Somerset Light Infantry.1 He fought in the First World War between 1914 and 1919.1 He succeeded as the 5th Baronet Hood [U.K., 1809] on 4 June 1917.1 He succeeded as the 7th Baronet Bateman, of Hartington Hall, co. Derby [U.K., 1806] on 4 June 1917.1 He succeeded as the 2nd Baron St. Audries, of St. Audries, co. Somerset [U.K., 1911] on 4 June 1917.1 He gained the rank of 2nd Lieutenant in 1918 in the Grenadier Guards.1 He held the office of Member of the Somerset County Council between 1937 and 1952.1 He was appointed Commander, Most Venerable Order of the Hospital of St. John of Jerusalem (C.St.J.)1 On his death, his UK Barony became extinct.1
