George Loyd Courthope, 1st and last Baron Courthope1 
He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, EnglandG.1 He was educated at Christ Church, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, EnglandG.1 He was admitted to Inner Temple entitled to practise as a Barrister-at-Law.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Sussex, Rye Division between 1906 and 1945.1 He became a Master of the Company of Farmers.1 He was Colonel of the 5th Battalion, Royal Susses Regiment (Territorial Army.)1 He fought in the First World War, where he was mentioned in despatches and was wounded.1 He was awarded the Military Cross (M.C.)1 He was created 1st Baronet Courthope, of Whiligh, co. Sussex [U.K.] in 1925.1 He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) in 1937.1 He was created 1st Baron Courthope, of Whiligh, co. Sussex [U.K.] on 3 July 1945.1 He lived at Whiligh, Sussex, EnglandG.1
On his death, his titles became extinct.1
