     Sir William de Lindsay is the son of Sir William de Lindesay and Aleanora de Limesay.^1,2

     Sir William de Lindesay was born circa 1148. He was the son of Walter de Lindesay.² He married, secondly, Margaret of Huntingdon, daughter of Henry of Huntingdon, Earl of Huntingdon and Ada de Warenne. He married, firstly, Aleanora de Limesay, daughter of Gerard, Lord of Limesay and Amicia de Bidun, circa 1174.² He died circa 1200.¹
     He was heir of Randolph de Lindesay, feudal lord of Northumbria.² In 1164 he sat in Parliament [Scotland].² In 1174 he was a hostage for King William.² He held the office of Justiciar [Scotland] after 1174.² He was feudal Lord of Crawford, but styled Baron of Luffness in Parliament.²

     Walter de Lindesay was born circa 1122. He was the son of William de Lindesay.¹
     He held the office of Justiciar [Scotland].¹ He was he sat in Parliament [Scotland] in 1145.¹

     William de Lindesay was born circa 1096. He was the son of Sir Walter de Lindesay.¹

     Sir Walter de Lindesay was born circa 1080. He was the son of Gilbert de Ghent.¹
     He probably accompanied David, Earl of Huntingdon (later King David I) in his anglicizing of the Lowlands in the early 1100s.¹ In 1116 he witnessed an inquisiton for the see of Glasgow.¹

     Gilbert de Ghent was born circa 1048.

     Aleanora de Limesay is the daughter of Gerard, Lord of Limesay and Amicia de Bidun.¹ She married Sir William de Lindesay, son of Walter de Lindesay, circa 1174.¹

     Gerard, Lord of Limesay is the son of Alan de Limesay.¹
     He gained the title of Lord of Limesay.¹

     Alan de Limesay is the son of Randolph de Limesay.¹

     He was founder of Hertford Priory.¹ Randolph de Limesay was living in 1086.¹
