     Edith Mary Buchanan was born in November 1838 at Stepney, London, England^G.² She was the daughter of Andrew Buchanan.³ She married Colonel Alexander Clerk, son of Rt. Hon. Sir George Clerk of Penicuik, 6th Bt. and Maria Anne Law, on 1 December 1857 at Auckland, New Zealand^G.^1,2 She died on 7 March 1904 at age 65 at Territet, Switzerland^G.^1,2
     From 1 December 1857, her married name became Clerk.¹

     Hugh Edward Clerk was born on 11 June 1859.¹ He was the son of Colonel Alexander Clerk and Edith Mary Buchanan.² He married Edith Elizabeth Beauchamp, daughter of Willoughby James Beauchamp and Elizabeth Maria King, in 1885.¹ He died on 17 February 1942 at age 82.¹
     He was Chief Engineer and Joint Secretary of Madras between 1911 and 1914.¹ He was with the India Public Works Department between 1911 and 1914.¹ He was appointed Companion, Order of the Indian Empire (C.I.E.) in 1914.¹

     Willoughby James Beauchamp was born on 25 February 1828.² He was the son of Reverend Henry William Johnson Beauchamp and Catharine Vernon.² He married Elizabeth Maria King, daughter of Reverend Isaac King and Maria Golding Rickford, on 30 July 1862.² He died on 6 March 1874 at age 46.²

     Edith Elizabeth Beauchamp was the daughter of Willoughby James Beauchamp and Elizabeth Maria King.² She married Hugh Edward Clerk, son of Colonel Alexander Clerk and Edith Mary Buchanan, in 1885.¹ She died on 4 March 1933.¹
     From 1885, her married name became Clerk.¹

     Captain Beauchamp Clerk was born on 22 August 1886.¹ He was the son of Hugh Edward Clerk and Edith Elizabeth Beauchamp.² He died on 11 March 1915 at age 28, killed in action.¹
     He fought in the First World War.¹ He gained the rank of Captain in the Indian Army.¹

     Arthur Stanley Clerk was born on 26 November 1864.¹ He was the son of Colonel Alexander Clerk and Edith Mary Buchanan.² He married Edith Maud Sheffield, daughter of C. E. Sheffield, in 1897.¹ He died on 12 October 1948 at age 83 at Beaconsfield, Buckinghamshire, England.^1,3

     C. E. Sheffield lived at Nova Scotia, Canada^G.¹

     Edith Maud Sheffield was the daughter of C. E. Sheffield.² She married Arthur Stanley Clerk, son of Colonel Alexander Clerk and Edith Mary Buchanan, in 1897.¹ She died on 19 December 1955.¹
     From 1897, her married name became Clerk.¹

     Alexander Stanley Clerk was born in 1901.¹ He was the son of Arthur Stanley Clerk and Edith Maud Sheffield.² He married Jennie Waters in 1927.¹ He died on 3 December 1953, without issue.¹

     Jennie Waters married Alexander Stanley Clerk, son of Arthur Stanley Clerk and Edith Maud Sheffield, in 1927.¹
     From 1927, her married name became Clerk.¹
