     Sir James Clavering, 6th Bt. was born on 19 August 1680 at All Saints’, Newcastle-upon-Tyne, Northumberland, England^G.¹ He was the son of James Clavering and Jane Ellison.¹ He married, firstly, Catharine Yorke, daughter of Thomas Yorke, before 1714.¹ He married, secondly, Elizabeth Vane, daughter of Lionel Vane, before 1740.¹ He died on 12 May 1748 at age 67.¹ He was buried on 18 May 1748 at Lanchester, County Durham, England^G.¹
     He succeeded as the 6th Baronet Clavering, of Axwell, co. Durham [E., 1661] on 31 December 1738.¹
     He had five other sons by his first wife.¹

     Catharine Yorke was the daughter of Thomas Yorke.¹ She married Sir James Clavering, 6th Bt., son of James Clavering and Jane Ellison, before 1714.¹ She died on 29 November 1723.¹
     From before 1714, her married name became Clavering.¹

     Thomas Yorke was born on 29 June 1658.² He was the son of Sir John Yorke and Mary Norton.² He died in 1716.²
     He lived at Richmond, Yorkshire, England^G.¹

     Elizabeth Vane was the daughter of Lionel Vane.¹ She married Sir James Clavering, 6th Bt., son of James Clavering and Jane Ellison, before 1740.¹ She died circa February 1747.¹ She was buried on 26 February 1747 at Lanchester, County Durham, England^G.¹
     From before 1740, her married name became Clavering.¹

     Lionel Vane lived at Long Newton, County Durham, England^G.¹

     Sir Thomas Clavering, 7th Bt. was baptised on 19 June 1719.¹ He was the son of Sir James Clavering, 6th Bt. and Catharine Yorke.¹ He married Martha Douglas, daughter of Joshua Douglas, in May 1746 at Gosforth, Cumberland, England^G.¹ He died on 14 October 1794 at age 75, without issue.¹ His will was proven (by probate) in 1817.¹
     He matriculated at Corpus Christi College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England^G, on 20 January 1736/37.¹ He succeeded as the 7th Baronet Clavering, of Axwell, co. Durham [E., 1661] on 12 May 1748.¹ He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for St. Mawes from January 1753 to 1754.¹ He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Shaftesbury between 1754 and 1761.¹ He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Durham between 1768 and 1790.¹ He was awarded the honorary degree of Doctor of Civil Law (D.C.L.) by Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England^G, on 17 June 1782.¹

     Martha Douglas was born circa 1726.¹ She was the daughter of Joshua Douglas.¹ She married Sir Thomas Clavering, 7th Bt., son of Sir James Clavering, 6th Bt. and Catharine Yorke, in May 1746 at Gosforth, Cumberland, England^G.¹ She died on 16 August 1792.¹
     From May 1746, her married name became Clavering.¹

     Joshua Douglas lived at Newcastle-upon-Tyne, Northumberland, England^G.¹

     George Clavering was born circa 1720.¹ He was the son of Sir James Clavering, 6th Bt. and Catharine Yorke.¹ He married, secondly, Anna Maria Palmer, daughter of Reverend unknown Palmer.¹ He died on 23 May 1794.¹
     He lived at Greencroft, County Durham, England^G.¹

     Anna Maria Palmer is the daughter of Reverend unknown Palmer.¹ She married, secondly, George Clavering, son of Sir James Clavering, 6th Bt. and Catharine Yorke.¹ She married, firstly, Sir John Pole, 5th Bt., son of Sir William Pole, 4th Bt. and Elizabeth Warry.¹
     Her married name became Pole.¹ Her married name became Clavering.¹
