Roger Richard Edward Chorley, 2nd Baron Chorley was born on 14 August 1930.1 He was the son of Robert Samuel Theodore Chorley, 1st Baron Chorley and Katharine Campbell Hopkinson.3,1 He married Ann Elizabeth Debenham, daughter of Archibald Scott Debenham, on 31 October 1964.1 He died on 21 February 2016 at age 85.4
He was educated at Stowe School, Buckingham, Buckinghamshire, EnglandG.1 He graduated from Gonville and Caius College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, EnglandG, in 1952 with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)1 He was an accountant with Cooper Brothers & Company (later Coopers and Lybrand), becoming a partner between 1955 and 1989.1 He was appointed Fellow, Institute of Chartered Accountants (F.C.A.)1 He succeeded as the 2nd Baron Chorley, of Kendal, co. Westmorland [U.K., 1945] on 27 January 1978.1 He was Visiting Professor, Department of Management Science in 1979 at Imperial College, London, EnglandG.1 He was awarded the honorary degree of Doctor of Science (D.Sc.) by Reading University, Reading, Berkshire, EnglandG, in 1990.1 He was awarded the honorary degree of Doctor of Science (D.Sc.) by Kingston University, EnglandG, in 1992.1 He was awarded the honorary degree of Doctor of Law (LL.D.) by Lancaster University, Lancaster, Lancashire, EnglandG, in 1995.1 He lived in 2003 at Fieldhead House, Hawkshead, Cumbria, EnglandG.1
