Dr. John Mudge1 

Dr. John Mudge was baptised on 6 October 1721 at Bideford, Devon, England.1,3 He was the son of Reverend Zachariah Mudge and Mary Fox.1 He married, secondly, Jane (?)1 He married, firstly, Mary Bulteel circa 1748.3 He married, thirdly, Elizabeth Garrett on 29 May 1767.3 He died in 1784 at Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire, Scotland.3
He graduated with a Doctor of Medicine (M.D.)3 He was appointed Fellow, Royal Society (F.R.S.) in 1777.1 In 1777 he published a short treatise on inoculated smallpox.1 He was awarded the Copley Medal of the Royal Society for making the best composition of metal for reflecting telescopes.1

He was educated in 1710 at Mr. Hallets Academy, Exeter, Devon, EnglandG.1 He was ordained on 21 September 1729.1 He was the Vicar in 1732 at St. Andrews Church, Plymouth, Devon, EnglandG.1 He held the office of Prebendary of Exeter.1
