Sir Turlough Lynach O’Neil1 
On 12 April 1562 he murdered his cousin Brien O’Neill, Earl of Tyrone.3 On 6 July 1567 Queen Elizabeth directed him to be made a Baron, but this did not occur.1 In January 1576 it was resolved to create him an Earl for life.1 In May 1578 letters patent were drawn up purporting to make him Baron of Clougher in Ireland, and separate letters patent to make him Earl of Clanconnell in Ireland, however these letters patent where not deivered to the Lord Chancellor [Ireland].1 He was appointed Knight in November 1588.1
