Sir John Betjeman1 
Sir John Betjeman was born on 28 August 1906 at 52 Parliament Hill Mansions, London, EnglandG.3 He was the son of Ernest Edward Betjemann and Mabel Bessie Dawson.4,1 He married Hon. Penelope Valentine Hester Chetwode, daughter of Field Marshal Philip Walhouse Chetwode, 1st Baron Chetwode and Alice Hester Camilla Stapleton-Cotton, on 29 July 1933.1 He died on 19 May 1984 at age 77 at Treen, Trebetherick, Cornwall, EnglandG.1,3 He was buried at St. Enodoc Churchyard, Trebetherick, Cornwall, EnglandG.3
He was appointed Commander, Order of the British Empire (C.B.E.) in 1960.3 He was appointed Knight in 1969.3 He held the office of Poet Laureate in 1972.3 He was awarded the honorary degree of Doctor of Letters (D.Litt.)1 He has an extensive biographical entry in the Dictionary of National Biography.5

He was educated at Vernon Prepartory School, Vernon, British Columbia, CanadaG.2 He was educated at University of British Columbia, Vancouver, British Columbia, CanadaG.1 He was a chief instructor for medical reconditioning, Royal Canadian Air Force between 1943 and 1945.1 He was an Associate for Physical and Health Education at University of Toronto, Toronto, Ontario, CanadaG.2 He was publicity officer for the University of Toronto Athletic Association between 1946 and 1952.2 He was founder and general manager of Chetwynd Films Ltd. (which became Chetwynd Productions Inc.) between 1950 and 1976.2 He succeeded as the 8th Baronet Chetwynd, of Brocton Hall, co. Stafford [G.B., 1795] in 1972.2 He was president of Brocton Hall Communications between 1978 and 1988 at Toronto, Ontario, CanadaG.2 He was awarded the Order of Barbados Silver Crown of Merit.1 He was appointed Knight Commander, Order of St. Lazarus of Jerusalem (K.C.L.J.)2 He lived in 2003 at 117 King Street East, Apartment 1, Cobourg, Ontario, CanadaG.1
