He was educated between 1781 and 1786 at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, EnglandG.2 He gained the rank of officer in 1786 in the Berkshire Militia.1 He succeeded as the 7th Baron Craven of Hampsted Marshall, Berkshire [E., 1627] on 27 September 1791.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in 1793 in the 84th Foot.1 He fought in the Flanders Campaign in 1794.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in 1794 in the 3rd Foot.1 He gained the rank of Colonel in 1798.1 He held the office of Aide-de-Camp to the King between 1798 and 1805.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in 1799 in the 40th Foot.1 He was created 1st Viscount Uffington, co. Berkshire [U.K.] on 18 June 1801.1 He was created 1st Earl of Craven [U.K.] on 18 June 1801.1 He was Colonel of the 9th Battalion of Reserves between 1803 and 1814.1 He gained the rank of Major-General in 1805.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-General in 1811.1 He held the office of Recorder of Coventry between 1811 and 1825.1 He held the office of Lord-Lieutenant of Berkshire between 1819 and 1825.1 He gained the rank of General in May 1825.1 His last will was dated 26 July 1825.
