Du Pre Alexander, 2nd Earl of Caledon1 
He was educated between 1790 and 1796 at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, EnglandG.3 He was educated at Christ Church, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, EnglandG.3 He gained the rank of Colonel in the Tyrone Militia.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Newtownards [Ireland] between January 1800 and December 1800.1 He held the office of Sheriff of County Armagh in 1801.3 He succeeded as the 2nd Baron Caledon, of Caledon, co. Tyrone [I., 1790] on 22 March 1802.1 He succeeded as the 2nd Viscount Caledon, of Caledon, co. Tyrone [I., 1797] on 22 March 1802.1 He succeeded as the 2nd Earl of Caledon, of Caledon, co. Tyrone [I., 1800] on 22 March 1802.1 He held the office of Representative Peer [Ireland] in 1804.1 He held the office of Governor of the Cape of Good Hope between July 1806 and 1811, the first governor on the Cape’s cession to UK (the Caledon River and District of Caledon there are named after him.)1 He was appointed Knight, Order of St. Patrick (K.P.) on 20 August 1821.3 He held the office of Lord-Lieutenant of County Tyrone between 1831 and 1839.1
