     Captain James Sinclair was born circa 1746.2 He was the son of David Sinclair and Margaret More.3 He married Catherine Rosie on 5 January 1764 at Reiss, Caithness, Scotland.2 He died on 11 January 1788 at Whitcomb Street, London, EnglandG, without issue.1,4
     He gained the rank of Captain in the Honourable East India Company Service.1 In 1765 he unsuccessfully claimed the Earldom of Caithness and again in 1779.1
