     He was disinherited through the efforts of his step-mother, Catherine Thynne, but eventually wound up inheriting Wraxall.¹

     Sir Walter Long was born circa 1565 at Wiltshire, England^G.² He was the son of Sir Robert Longe and Barbara Carne.² He married, firstly, Mary Pakington, daughter of Sir Thomas Pakington and Dorothy Kitson.² He married, secondly, Catherine Thynne, daughter of Sir John Thynne.² He died in 1610.² He was buried on 30 October 1610 at Draycot, Wiltshire, England^G.² His will was proven (by probate) on 30 October 1610.²
     He was also known as Sir Walter Long.³ He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.)³ He held the office of High Sheriff of Wiltshire.² He lived at South Wraxall Manor, Wiltshire, England^G.²
