     Reverend Dixon Edward Hoste was born on 23 July 1861 at Brighton, Sussex, England.2 He was the son of Maj.-Gen. Dixon Edward Hoste and Mary Scott.1 He married Amelia Gertrude Broomhall, daughter of Benjamin Broomhall and Amelia Hudson Taylor, on 6 September 1894 at Tianjin, ChinaG.1 He died on 11 May 1946 at age 84 at London, EnglandG.1
     He was educated at Royal Military Academy, Woolwich, Kent, EnglandG.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant in the Royal Artillery.1 He was a missionary between February 1885 and 1945 at ChinaG.1

Dixon Edward Hoste and Mary Scott, on 6 September 1894 at Tianjin, ChinaG.1 She died on 12 April 1944 at Shanghai, ChinaG.1
     From 6 September 1894, her married name became Hoste.1
