     Major William Edward Delves Broughton was born on 13 August 1879.¹ He was the son of Maj.-Gen. William Edward Delves Broughton and Laura Margaret Lawson.¹ He married Dorothy Grace Studd, daughter of Edward Fairfax Studd and Evelyn Chichester, on 23 October 1912.¹ He died on 20 April 1947 at age 67.¹
     He fought in the First World War, where he was mentioned in despatches, and was wounded.¹ He gained the rank of Major in the Royal Artillery.¹

     Dorothy Grace Studd was born in 1894.² She was the daughter of Edward Fairfax Studd and Evelyn Chichester.^1,3 She married, firstly, Major William Edward Delves Broughton, son of Maj.-Gen. William Edward Delves Broughton and Laura Margaret Lawson, on 23 October 1912.¹ She married, secondly, Henry Franklin Young on 14 May 1968.¹
