     Sir Brian Broughton, 1st Bt. was born on 23 May 1618.¹ He was the son of Thomas Broughton and Frances Bagot.¹ He married Bridget Lucy, daughter of Sir Thomas Lucy and Alicia Spencer, before 1648.² He died on 30 July 1708 at age 90.¹ He was buried at Broughton, Staffordshire, England^G.²
     He held the office of High Sheriff of Staffordshire from 1660 to 1661.² He was appointed Knight on 13 June 1660 at Whitehall, London, England^G.² He was created 1st Baronet Broughton, of Broughton, co. Stafford [England] on 10 March 1660/61.¹

     He lived at Lowdham, Nottinghamshire, England^G.¹
     He was the ancestor of the Broughtons of Tunstall Hall, Shropshire.¹

     Bridget Lucy was born circa 1621.¹ She was the daughter of Sir Thomas Lucy and Alicia Spencer.¹ She married Sir Brian Broughton, 1st Bt., son of Thomas Broughton and Frances Bagot, before 1648.¹ She died on 1 September 1692.¹ She was buried at Broughton, Staffordshire, England^G.¹
     From before 1648, her married name became Broughton.¹

     Sir Thomas Lucy was the son of Sir Thomas Lucy and Constance Kingsmill.^3,4 He married Alicia Spencer, daughter of Thomas Spencer.³ He died in December 1640.³
     He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Warwickshire.⁴ He lived at Charlecote, Warwickshire, England^G.¹

     Sir Thomas Broughton, 2nd Bt. was born circa 1648.¹ He was the son of Sir Brian Broughton, 1st Bt. and Bridget Lucy.¹ He married Rhoda Amcotts, daughter of John Amcotts and Rhoda Hussey, on 10 July 1672 at St. Paul’s Church, Covent Gardens, London, England^G.¹ He died before 1710 at Soho, London, England^G.¹ He died intestate and his estate was administered on 23 May 1710.¹
     He matriculated at Trinity College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England^G, on 8 March 1666/67.¹ He succeeded as the 2nd Baronet Broughton, of Broughton, co. Stafford [E., 1661] on 30 July 1708.¹

     Rhoda Amcotts was baptised on 2 December 1653 at Great Corringham, England^G.¹ She was the daughter of John Amcotts and Rhoda Hussey.¹ She married Sir Thomas Broughton, 2nd Bt., son of Sir Brian Broughton, 1st Bt. and Bridget Lucy, on 10 July 1672 at St. Paul’s Church, Covent Gardens, London, England^G.¹ She died before 1710.¹
     From 10 July 1672, her married name became Broughton.¹
