He held the office of High Sheriff of Staffordshire from 1660 to 1661.2 He was appointed Knight on 13 June 1660 at Whitehall, London, EnglandG.2 He was created 1st Baronet Broughton, of Broughton, co. Stafford [England] on 10 March 1660/61.1

Carroll and Hazel Bainbridge, circa 1969.3 He married, secondly, Eve Lucinda Fleming, daughter of Lt.-Col. Robert Peter Fleming and Dame Celia Elizabeth Johnson, in 1986.1
