Captain Alexander Cosby1 
He gained the rank of officer in 1743 in the 18th Regiment, in Minorca.1 He gained the rank of Captain in 1745 in the Montague’s Ordnance Regiment of Foot.1 He gained the rank of Captain in 1753 in the Honourable East India Company Service.1 He held the office of Commandant of Surat in 1759.1
