     General Henry Lee II was born in 1729.¹ He was the son of Captain Henry Lee and Mary Bland.² He married Lucy Grymes, daughter of Charles Grymes and Frances Jennings, in 1753.^1,3 He died in 1787.¹

     General Henry Lee III was born on 29 January 1756 at Dumfries, Virginia, U.S.A.^G.¹ He was the son of General Henry Lee II and Lucy Grymes.¹ He married, firstly, Matilda Lee, daughter of Hon. Philip Ludwell Lee, Sr. and Elizabeth Steptoe, from 8 April 1782 to 13 April 1782 at Stratford Hall^G.¹ He married, secondly, Anne Hill Carter, daughter of Hon. Charles Carter, Sr. and Anne Butler Moore, on 13 June 1793.¹ He died on 25 March 1818 at age 62 at Cumberland Island, Georgia, U.S.A.^G.¹
     General Henry Lee III also went by the nick-name of ‘Light Horse Harry’.¹ He graduated from College of New Jersey, Princeton, New Jersey, U.S.A.^G, in 1773.¹ He gained the rank of Captain in the Virginia Dragoons.¹ He gained the rank of Major in 1778.¹ He fought in the Battle of Paulus Hook on 19 August 1779, where he won a gold medal.¹ He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel.¹ He was Delegate to the Continental Congress between 1786 and 1788.¹ He held the office of Governor of Viriginia between 1791 and 1794.¹ He gained the rank of Major-General in 1798 in the U.S. Army.¹ He held the office of Member of the House of Representatives [U.S.] between 1799 and 1800, for Virginia.¹

     Anne Hill Carter was born in 1773.¹ She was the daughter of Hon. Charles Carter, Sr. and Anne Butler Moore.² She married General Henry Lee III, son of General Henry Lee II and Lucy Grymes, on 13 June 1793.² She died in 1829.¹
     From 13 June 1793, her married name became Lee.¹

     General Robert Edward Lee was born on 19 January 1807 at Stratford Hall, Virginia, U.S.A.^G.¹ He was the son of General Henry Lee III and Anne Hill Carter.¹ He married Mary Anna Randolph Custis, daughter of George Washington Parke Custis and Mary Lee Fitzhugh, on 30 June 1831 at Arlington House, Arlington, Virginia, U.S.A.^G.^2,1 He died on 12 October 1870 at age 63 at Lexington, Virginia, U.S.A.^G.¹
     He gained the rank of General in the Confederate Army. He fought in the American Civil War.

     William Tanfield was born circa 1489.¹ He was the son of Robert Tanfield and Catherine Neville.¹
