Sir Matthew Boynton, 1st Bt.1 
He was appointed Knight on 9 May 1618 at Whitehall, London, EnglandG.1 He was created 1st Baronet Boynton, of Barmston, co. York [England] on 15 May 1618.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Heydon in 1620.1 He held the office of Sheriff of Yorkshire from 1628 to 1629.1 He held the office of Sheriff of Yorkshire between 1643 and 1645.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Scarborough between 1645 and 1647.1 He gained the rank of Colonel in the troop of horse.1 In 1646 He sided with the Parliamentarians during the Civil War, and helped capture Sir John Hotham, who was going to surrender Hull to the King.1 He held the office of Governor of Scarborough Castle.1
