Grizel Ker 2

     Grizel Ker was the daughter of Sir Thomas Kerr of Cavers and Grizel Halkett.1 She married Patrick Hume, 1st Earl of Marchmont, son of Sir Patrick Hume, 1st Bt. and Christian Hamilton, on 29 January 1660.3 She died on 11 October 1703 at Edinburgh, Midlothian, ScotlandG.1
     From 29 January 1660, her married name became Hume.1 They also had other issue.3 After her marriage, Grizel Ker was styled as Countess of Marchmont on 23 April 1697.

Sir Thomas Kerr of Cavers1

     Sir Thomas Kerr of Cavers was born circa 1613 at Cavers, Roxburghshire, Scotland.2 He was the son of George Kerr of Cavers and Euphame Bruce.2 He married Grizel Halkett, daughter of Sir Robert Halkett of Pitfirrane and Margaret Murray. He married Agnes Riddell, daughter of Sir William Riddell and Jean Anstruther.2
     He lived at Cavers, Roxburghshire, ScotlandG.3 He was also known as Sir Thomas Ker.3

     Sir Patrick Hume, 1st Bt. was the son of Sir Patrick Hume of Polwarth and Julian Kerr.2 He married Christian Hamilton, daughter of Alexander Hamilton of Innerwick and Isabel Home, before 1640.3 He died in April 1648.2
     He was created 1st Baronet Hume, of Polwarth [Scotland] on 28 December 1625.2 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Berwickshire in 1630.3

     Christian Hamilton was the daughter of Alexander Hamilton of Innerwick and Isabel Home.1,2 She married, firstly, Sir Patrick Hume, 1st Bt., son of Sir Patrick Hume of Polwarth and Julian Kerr, before 1640.3 She married, secondly, Robert Kerr, 4th Lord Jedburgh, son of Sir James Kerr and Mary Rutherford, before 1656.4 She died on 7 November 1688.5
     From before 1640, her married name became Hume.1,3 From before 1656, her married name became Kerr.4

     Sir Patrick Hume of Polwarth was born circa 1550.2 He was the son of Patrick Hume of Polwarth and Agnes Home.2 He married Julian Kerr, daughter of Sir Thomas Kerr of Ferniehirst and Janet Kirkcaldy, before 18 December 1598.3,2 He died on 10 June 1609.1
     He lived at Berwickshire, Scotland.4
