     William Galwey was born on 12 July 1828.1 He was the son of Venerable Charles Galwey and Honoria Tomkins Knox.1 He married Eleanor Minnitt, daughter of Joshua Minnitt, on 30 October 1855.1 He died on 16 September 1876 at age 48.1
     He was educated at Trinity College, Dublin University, Dublin, County Dublin, IrelandG.1 He was registered as a Civil Engineer (C.E.)1 He was an engineer with the Bombay and Baroda Railway.1
     He also had four daughters, all of whom married in New Zealand.1
