     Robert Campbell was born circa 1773.2,3,4 He was the son of Captain Robert Campbell and Jean Sinclair.1 He married Susanna Renton, daughter of Alexander Renton of Lamberton and Margaret Cairns, on 31 March 1811 at Biggar, Scotland.2 He died circa 1 March 1852.2,4 He was buried on 3 March 1852 at Tynemouth, Northumberland, England.4
     He was commissioned in 1792 with the rank of Lieutenant, in the service of the 42nd Regiment.1 He retired from the military in 1803.1
