Oxford [U.K., 1962] on 29 December 1966.4 He succeeded as the 2nd Baronet Brain, of Eynsham, co. Oxford [U.K., 1954] on 29 December 1966.5 He was registered as a Associate, Royal Photographic Society (A.R.P.S.) in 1970.3 He was a director of Keirman & Company in 1973.3 He lived in 2003 at Alexandra House, 8 Cross Street, Moretonhampstead, Devon, EnglandG.3

He was educated at Uppingham, Leicestershire, EnglandG.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Essex, Maldon Division between 1923 and 1924.2 He held the office of Parliamentary Private Secretary in 1924, to the Minister of Air.2 He was appointed Knight Bachelor in 1930.2 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Essex.2 He was chairman of Crittall Manufacturing Company Ltd.2 He was a director of the Bank of England between 1948 and 1955.2 He was created 1st Baron Braintree, of Braintree, co. Essex [U.K.] on 9 February 1948.1 He lived at Queen’s Meadow, Bocking, Braintree, Essex, EnglandG.2
On his death, his barony became extinct.1
