     Sir John Christopher Malcolm Baynes, 7th Bt. was born on 24 April 1928.¹ He was the son of Lt.-Col. Sir Rory Malcolm Stuart Baynes, 6th Bt. and Ethel Audrey Giles.² He married Shirley Maxwell Dodds, daughter of Robert Allan Dodds, on 2 June 1955.² He died on 22 January 2005 at age 76.³
     He was educated at Sedbergh School, Sedbergh, Cumbria, England^G.¹ He graduated from University of Edinburgh, Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland^G, with a Master of Science (M.Sc.)¹ He gained the rank of officer in 1948 in the Cameronians (Scottish Rifles.)¹ He was educated at Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst, Berkshire, England^G.¹ He fought in the Malayan Campaign between 1950 and 1953, where he was mentioned in despatches.¹ He was awarded the Order of the Sword of Sweden in 1964 1st class.¹ He wrote the book Morale, published 1967.¹ He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in 1968 in the Queen’s Own Highlanders.¹ He was commnader of the 1st Battalion, 52nd Lowland Volunteers between 1969 and 1972.¹ He wrote the book The Soldier in Modern Society, published 1970.¹ He wrote the book The Jacobite Rising of 1715, published 1971.¹ He succeeded as the 7th Baronet Baynes, of Harefield Place, Middlesex [U.K., 1801] on 29 April 1979.¹ He wrote the book Soldiers of Scotland, published 1988.¹ He wrote the book The Forgotten Victor, published 1989.¹ He wrote the book No Reward But Honour?, published 1991.² He wrote the book Urquhart of Arnhem, published 1993.² He wrote the book Far From a Donkey: Life of General Sir Ivor Maxse, published 1995.² He wrote the book For Love of Justice, published 1997.² He lived in 2003 at Talwrn Bach, Llanfyllin, Montgomeryshire, Wales^G.¹

     Shirley Maxwell Dodds was born in 1932.² She was the daughter of Robert Allan Dodds.¹ She married Sir John Christopher Malcolm Baynes, 7th Bt., son of Lt.-Col. Sir Rory Malcolm Stuart Baynes, 6th Bt. and Ethel Audrey Giles, on 2 June 1955.¹ She died on 7 January 2020 at Telford, Shropshire, England^G.²
     From 2 June 1955, her married name became Baynes.¹

     Robert Allan Dodds lived at Foxbury, Lesbury, Alnwick, Northumberland, England^G.¹

     Sir Christopher Rory Baynes, 8th Bt. was born on 11 May 1956.¹ He is the son of Sir John Christopher Malcolm Baynes, 7th Bt. and Shirley Maxwell Dodds.¹ He married Sandra Finuala Merriman, daughter of Thomas Desmond Merriman, in 1992.¹
     He was educated at Winchester College, Winchester, Hampshire, England^G.¹ He was educated at Bristol University, Bristol, England^G.¹ He was registered as a Associate, Institute of Chartered Accountants (A.C.A.) in 1982.¹ He lived in 2003 at 52 High Street, Findon, Worthing, Sussex, England^G.¹ He succeeded as the 8th Baronet Baynes, of Harefield Place, Middlesex [U.K., 1801] on 22 January 2005.

     Sandra Finuala Merriman is the daughter of Thomas Desmond Merriman.¹ She married Sir Christopher Rory Baynes, 8th Bt., son of Sir John Christopher Malcolm Baynes, 7th Bt. and Shirley Maxwell Dodds, in 1992.¹
     From 1992, her married name became Baynes.¹

     Alasdair William Merriman Baynes was born in 1993.¹ He is the son of Sir Christopher Rory Baynes, 8th Bt. and Sandra Finuala Merriman.¹

     Fergus Joseph Malcolm Baynes was born on 31 January 1996.¹ He is the son of Sir Christopher Rory Baynes, 8th Bt. and Sandra Finuala Merriman.¹

     Isla Alice Rose Baynes was born in 2001.¹ She is the daughter of Sir Christopher Rory Baynes, 8th Bt. and Sandra Finuala Merriman.¹

     Timothy Peter Baynes was born on 6 August 1957.¹ He is the son of Sir John Christopher Malcolm Baynes, 7th Bt. and Shirley Maxwell Dodds.¹ He married Estelle Anne Gabrielle de Winton, daughter of Nicholas John Dennys Parry de Winton, in 1986.¹
     He lived in 2003 at Muirton of Drumlochy, Blairgowrie, Perthshire, Scotland^G.¹
