     Alexander Vaus of Barnbarroch was the son of John Vaus of Barnbarroch and Janet McCulloch.¹ He married, firstly, Janet Kennedy, daughter of Gilbert Kennedy, 2nd Earl of Cassillis and Lady Isabel Campbell, before 1566.¹ He married, secondly, Euphemia Dunbar, daughter of Sir John Dunbar of Mochrum, in 1566.¹ He died in 1567, without male issue.¹

     Janet Kennedy was the daughter of Gilbert Kennedy, 2nd Earl of Cassillis and Lady Isabel Campbell.¹ She married Alexander Vaus of Barnbarroch, son of John Vaus of Barnbarroch and Janet McCulloch, before 1566.¹ She died in 1566.¹
     From before 1566, her married name became Vaus.¹

     Euphemia Dunbar was the daughter of Sir John Dunbar of Mochrum.¹ She married Alexander Vaus of Barnbarroch, son of John Vaus of Barnbarroch and Janet McCulloch, in 1566.¹

     Helen Vaus was born in 1557.¹ She was the daughter of Alexander Vaus of Barnbarroch and Janet Kennedy.¹ She married Alexander McKie in 1568.¹

     Sir Patrick Vaus, Lord Barnbarroch was the son of John Vaus of Barnbarroch and Janet McCulloch.¹ He married, firstly, Elizabeth Kennedy, daughter of Sir Hew Kennedy, 2nd of Girvan Mains, in 1560.¹ He married, secondly, Katherine Kennedy, daughter of Gilbert Kennedy, 3rd Earl of Cassillis and Margaret Kennedy, in 1573.¹ He died on 22 December 1597.¹
     He held the office of Lord of Session [Scotland] in 1575.¹ He was styled as Lord Barnbarroch [Scottish Law Lord] in 1575.¹ He was appointed Knight in 1583.¹ He held the office of Scottish Ambassador to Denmark in 1587, to arrange the marriage of King James VI.¹ He held the office of Lord of Council in 1587.¹ In 1589 he accompanied King James VI to Norway.¹ In 1591 he had Barnbarroch erected into a free Barony.¹

     Elizabeth Kennedy was the daughter of Sir Hew Kennedy, 2nd of Girvan Mains.¹ She married Sir Patrick Vaus, Lord Barnbarroch, son of John Vaus of Barnbarroch and Janet McCulloch, in 1560.¹ She died in 1572.¹
     From 1560, her married name became Vaus.¹

     Isobell Vaus was the daughter of Sir Patrick Vaus, Lord Barnbarroch and Elizabeth Kennedy.¹ She married, firstly, George Murray of Broughton, son of Sir Charles Murray and Margaret Somerville.¹ She married, secondly, Hugh Maxwell.¹
     Her married name became Maxwell.¹ Her married name became Murray.¹

     George Murray of Broughton was the son of Sir Charles Murray and Margaret Somerville.² He married Isobell Vaus, daughter of Sir Patrick Vaus, Lord Barnbarroch and Elizabeth Kennedy.¹ He died on 6 August 1613 at Lifford, County Donegal, Ireland.²
