     James Barclay of Knockleith and Templeland was born on 28 November 1782.¹ He was the son of Charles Barclay of Knockleith and Templeland and Bathia Smith.¹ He was baptised on 1 December 1782 at Auchterless, Aberdeenshire, Scotland.² He married Mary Anne Barclay, daughter of Reverend Peter Barclay and Margaret Duddingston, on 28 April 1823.¹ He died on 18 March 1856 at age 73 at Knockleith, Auchterless, Aberdeenshire, Scotland^G.¹
     He had five daughters and four other sons (all whom died young.)¹

     Charles Barclay of Knockleith and Templeland was baptised on 11 December 1752.¹ He was the son of James Barclay of Towie Hill and Elspeth Mitchell.¹ He married Bathia Smith, daughter of George Smith and Bathia Strachan, in 1782.¹ He died on 4 February 1838 at age 85 at Knockleith, Auchterless, Aberdeenshire, Scotland^G.²
     He lived at Knockleith, Auchterless, Aberdeenshire, Scotland^G.¹

     James Barclay was the son of Reverend Peter Barclay and Margaret Duddingston.¹ He died on 22 October 1811 at Penang, Malaysia^G, unmarried.¹
     He graduated with a Doctor of Medicine (M.D.)¹ He was in the Honourable East India Company Service, Bengal Medical Service on 21 September 1806.¹

     Captain Robert Heriot Barclay was born in 1786 at Kettle, Scotland^G.¹ He was the son of Reverend Peter Barclay and Margaret Duddingston.¹ He married Agnes Cossar on 11 August 1814.¹ He died on 8 March 1837 at Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland^G.¹
     He gained the rank of Midshipman in the Royal Navy.¹ He fought in the Battle of Trafalgar on 20 October 1805.¹ He fought in the War of 1812, where he was Commodore of Lake Erie, and was dangerously wounded.¹ He gained the rank of Captain in 1824.¹
     He also had four daughters and two other sons (who died as infants.)¹

     Agnes Cossar married Captain Robert Heriot Barclay, son of Reverend Peter Barclay and Margaret Duddingston, on 11 August 1814.¹
     She lived at Westminster, London, England^G.¹ From 11 August 1814, her married name became Barclay.¹

     Peter Barclay was the son of Captain Robert Heriot Barclay and Agnes Cossar.¹ He died, young.¹
     He gained the rank of officer in the Royal Navy.¹

     Lieutenant John James Douglas Barclay was the son of Captain Robert Heriot Barclay and Agnes Cossar.¹ He died on 18 June 1853, unmarried.¹
     He gained the rank of 1st Lieutenant in the Royal Marines.¹

     Peter Barclay was born after 1786.¹ He was the son of Reverend Peter Barclay and Margaret Duddingston.¹ He married Marjorie Cleland Arnott.¹ He died in 1872, without issue.¹
     He was in the Honourable East India Company Service.¹ He gained the rank of Honorary Lieutenant-Colonel in the Madras Infantry.¹

     Marjorie Cleland Arnott married Peter Barclay, son of Reverend Peter Barclay and Margaret Duddingston.¹ She died in 1855.¹
     She lived at Cleland, Fife, Scotland^G.¹ Her married name became Barclay.¹

     Bathia Smith was born on 5 January 1756.² She was the daughter of George Smith and Bathia Strachan.^1,2 She was born on 7 January 1756 at Gamrie, Banffshire, Scotland.² She married Charles Barclay of Knockleith and Templeland, son of James Barclay of Towie Hill and Elspeth Mitchell, in 1782.¹ She died on 22 September 1822 at age 66 at Templeland, Scotland.²
     From 1782, her married name became Barclay.¹
