     Lt.-Col. Sir James Gardiner Baird of Saughtonhall, 6th Bt. was the son of Sir William Baird of Saughtonhall, 5th Bt. and Frances Gardiner.1 He married, firstly, Henrietta Johnstone, daughter of Wynne Johnstone, in 1781.2 He married, secondly, Mary Watt, daughter of Robert Watt, on 15 July 1818.2 He married, thirdly, Wortley Cornelia Anne Moir, daughter of William Moir, in 1827.2 He died on 23 June 1830.1
     He succeeded as the 6th Baronet Baird, of Saughton Hall, co. Edinburgh [N.S., 1696] on 17 August 1771.1 He gained the rank of Ensign in 1772 in the 17th Foot.2 He fought in the American War of Independence.2 He gained the rank of Lieutenant in 1776.2 He gained the rank of Captain in 1777 in the 71st Foot.2 He gained the rank of Captain in 1794 in the 1st Battalion, Scots Brigade.2 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in 1796 in the 28th Light Dragoons.2 He fought in the campaigns in Flanders.2

     Henrietta Johnstone is the daughter of Wynne Johnstone.1 She married Lt.-Col. Sir James Gardiner Baird of Saughtonhall, 6th Bt., son of Sir William Baird of Saughtonhall, 5th Bt. and Frances Gardiner, in 1781.1
     From 1781, her married name became Baird.1

     Mary Watt was the daughter of Robert Watt.1 She married, firstly, James Symington before 1818.1 She married, secondly, Lt.-Col. Sir James Gardiner Baird of Saughtonhall, 6th Bt., son of Sir William Baird of Saughtonhall, 5th Bt. and Frances Gardiner, on 15 July 1818.1 She died on 14 January 1826.1
     From before 1818, her married name became Symington.1 From 15 July 1818, her married name became Baird.1

     Captain William Baird was the son of Lt.-Col. Sir James Gardiner Baird of Saughtonhall, 6th Bt. and Henrietta Johnstone.1 He married Lucy Dickson, daughter of Thomas Dickson, on 28 March 1809.2 He died in 1823.1
     He gained the rank of Captain in the British Army.1
