     William Baillie, Lord Polkemmet was the son of Thomas Baillie of Polkemmet and Isabel Walker.1 He married, firstly, Margaret Colquhoun, daughter of Sir James Colquhoun of Luss, 1st Bt. and Helen Sutherland, on 3 December 1768.1 He married, secondly, Janet Sinclair, daughter of George Sinclair of Ulbster and Janet Sutherland, on 15 April 1803.1 He died on 14 March 1816.1
     He was admitted to an Advocate in 1758.1 He was styled as Lord Polkemmet [Scottish Law Lord] on 14 November 1793.1 He held the office of Lord of Session [Scotland] between 14 November 1793 and 1811.1 He has an extensive biographical entry in the Dictionary of National Biography.2

     Lady Caroline Brydges was the daughter of Henry Brydges, 2nd Duke of Chandos and Lady Mary Bruce.1 She married James Leigh, son of William Leigh and Mary Lord, on 10 March 1755.2 She died in 1804.3
     From 10 March 1755, her married name became Leigh.1

     Thomas Baillie of Polkemmet was born in 1678.1 He was the son of Thomas Baillie of Polkemmet and Ann Inglis.1 He married Ann Cockburn, daughter of Patrick Cockburn.1 He died in 1758.1

     Thomas Baillie of Polkemmet was the son of Thomas Baillie of Polkemmet and Margaret Baillie.1 He married Ann Inglis, daughter of Thomas Inglis, in 1667.1 He died in 1704.1

     Thomas Baillie of Polkemmet was the son of Thomas Baillie of Polkemmet and Elizabeth Polwarth.1 He married Alison Muirhead, daughter of Sir James Muirhead, 8th of Lauchope and Margaret Somerville, in 1625.1 He died in 1645, killed in action.1
     He fought in the Battle of Kilsyth in 1645, under the royalist, Marquess of Montrose.1

     Alison Muirhead is the daughter of Sir James Muirhead, 8th of Lauchope and Margaret Somerville.1,2 She married Thomas Baillie of Polkemmet, son of Thomas Baillie of Polkemmet and Elizabeth Polwarth, in 1625.1
     From 1625, her married name became Baillie.1

     Sir James Muirhead, 8th of Lauchope was born in 1573.2 He was the son of Sir James Muirhead, 7th of Lauchope and Janet Hamilton.2 He married Margaret Somerville, daughter of Sir James Somerville, 4th of Cambusnethan and Margaret Hamilton.2 He married Jean Houstoun of Craigtoun, daughter of James Houstoun of Craigtoun.2 He died in December 1644.2
