He fought in the Somaliland Campaign in 1904, where he was mentioned in despatches.1 He fought in the First World War.1 He was Commander of the 2nd Naval Brigade, Antwerp and Dardanelles between 1914 and 1915 when he was mentioned in despatches twice more.1 He was awarded the Chevalier, Ordre national de la Légion d’honneur.1 He was awarded the Croix de Guerre.1 He was appointed Companion, Order of the Bath (C.B.) in 1915.1 He was Commander of the H.M.S. Orion in 1916 during the Battle of Jutland, for which he was again mentioned in despatches.1 He was awarded the Silver Medal of Italy.1 He was Commander of the H.M.S. Royal Sovereign in 1920 during the occupation of Constantinople.1 He was Superintendant of the Sheerness Dockyard between 1923 and 1925.1 He was Admiral Superintendant of the Devonport Dockyard between 1927 and 1931.1

Gregory, in 1889.3 He married Florence Winifred Midwood Milne on 6 September 1923.3 He died in 1958.2
